“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in the 19th Ischia Global Film Festival in Italy, which was staged online from July 18-25, 2021.
“The Recess” marks its 27th international appearance at Ischia Global Film Festival in Italy.
Ischia Global Film Festival takes place on the Isle of Ischia, a few miles off Naples and Capri, Italy since 2003.
Ischia Global Film Festival was born in 2002. Over the years, it has achieved such great success that it has become the most important summer event dedicated to international and non-international cinema.
Ischia Global Festival is a week of major film premieres, timely panels and symposium and awards ceremonies that will be attended by numerous industry executives, filmmakers and international journalists.
“The Recess” tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered. Inspired by true events, The Recess explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
