“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in “Gender Equality” section of the 13th Festival Internacional De Cine Invisible Film Sozialak De Bilbao, which runs from October 14-21, 2021 in Bilbao, Spain.
“The Recess” marks its 31st international appearance at Festival Internacional De Cine Invisible Film Sozialak De Bilbao in Spain.

The International Unseen Film Festival ‘Social Films’ from Bilbao is an annual celebration dedicated to show a cinema full of diversity and social commitment, a cinema that is usually excluded from commercial screens.
Cine Invisible is organized by Kultura, Communication y Desarrollo KCD NGOD, which is dedicated to promoting a human, intercultural, equitable and sustainable development through Communication and Culture.
The Festival is centered on four major themes:

“The Recess” is set to screen on Saturday 16th Ocotber, 21:30, at Cines Golem Zinemak (Bilbao), and on Tuesday 19th October, 17:30, at Cines Florida Zinemak (Vitoria-Gasteiz).
“The Recess”, tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered. Inspired by true events, The Recess explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
