“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in the 14th OnScreen Film and Video Festival in the U.S., which runs online on September 30, 2021.
The OnScreen Film and Video Festival was formerly known as formerly known as Pennsylvania College Student Film and Video Festival.
All official selections will screen in our online format and will be available to view from October 1-10, 2021.
The AMC screening is free and open to the public.
“The Recess” tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered. Inspired by true events, The Recess explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
