“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes for CINTA DE DUEÑOS award in the 10th FAMMA (Festival Audiovisual de Los Montes de MarÍa) in Colombia, which runs from October 27 to 31, 2021.
“The Recess” marks its 49th international appearance in FAMMA (Festival Audiovisual de Los Montes de MarÍa) in Colombia.

The 10th edition of FAMMA on the theme of “Territories, Identities and Heritage in Transformation for Life” runs as a hybrid event from October 27 to 31, 2021.
Festival Audiovisual de Los Montes de MarÍa is an audiovisual-social experience that encourages encounters between the profound cultural expressions of the regional universe with contemporary artistic manifestations, allowing a cultural ensemble between cinema, music, contemporary art and memory.

“The Recess” tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered.
Inspired by true events, “The Recess” explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
“The Recess” has been screened in 49 international film festivals, earning 7 awards.
