Mojan Kordi, the star of “The Recess,” won the Best Performance award at Living Skies Film Festival (2021) in Canada.
Living Skies Student Film Festival is an international short film festival based in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, showcasing student work from all over the world.
Mojan Kordi won the Best Performance award for her portrayal of Sahar, a rebel who decided to run away from high school and attend a public stadium in Iran to watch the football match of her beloved club.
The 33rd Living Skies Student Film Festival was organized virtually from March 4 to 6, 2021 in Regina, Canada.
“The Recess” competed in the official competition of the festival.
“The Recess” tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered.
Inspired by true events, “The Recess” explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
