Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – “The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in River Film Festival (2021) in Italy.
“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in the 15th River Film Festival in Italy, which was runs from July 1-30, 2021.
River Film Festival is an international festival of shorts that will be held in Padova (Italy) from 1st to 30th July 2021.
The Festival is organized by the Associazione Culturale Researching Movies and is sponsored by the Padua City Council – Cultural Office and the University of Padua.
River Film Festival present awards for best short films in the following categories:
- Virtual Reality
- Italian Gazes
- Queer/LGBTQ
- Fiction
- Animation
- Documentary
- Graduation Film School
Awards include the jury Laurels, certificates and GOLDEN RIVER (Murano glass sculpture made by Venetian artist).
“The Recess” by Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in Orizzonti Internazionali competition section of the 15th River Film Festival.
“The Recess” tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered.
Inspired by true events, The Recess explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
