“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in the 11th Festival de Cine Estudiantil FENACIES, which runs from September 6-12, 2021 in Uruguay.
“The Recess” marks its 37th international appearance at FENACIES in Uruguay.
Festival de Cine Estudiantil FENACIES (Student Film Festival FENACIES) is the national student film festival in Uruguay.
FENACIES is an organization founded in 2011 that started with the aim of creating a cinema festival specifically to youth, where competition would be fair and creativity and effort of these would be valued.
The main aim of the festival is to strengthen the audiovisual education between the youngest, and through the short films realization they can express their ideas so that then they can see reflected on the big screen.
“The Recess” tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered. Inspired by true events, The Recess explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
