“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in the 15th Crossroads Short Film Festival in Turkey, which runs from October 1-16, 2021.
“The Recess” marks its 43rd international appearance in Crossroads Short Film Festival in Turkey.
Crossroads Film Festival by JCI Istanbul is an international short film competition and festival that mediates the meeting of cultures and aims for all cinema lovers and filmmakers to bring their short films with the theme of “Gender Equality” to the big screen.
Crossroads Uluslararası Kısa Film Festivali is organized by JCI Istanbul. It is the Turkish organization of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) organization established in St. Louis.
“The Recess”, tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered.
Inspired by true events, “The Recess” explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
“The Recess” has been screened in 43 international film festivals, earning 5 awards.
