Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – ‘The Recess’ by Navid Nikkhah Azad has been selected to compete in FILUMS International Film Festival in Pakistan.
Iranian acclaimed short film, ‘The Recess,’ has been selected to compete in the 11th edition of the FILUMS International Film Festival, which takes place from March 29-30, 2022 at the Lahore University of Management Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan.
FILUMS International Film Festival is hosted annually by the FILUMS Media Arts Society (LMA) in Pakistan.
The FILUMS International Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in Pakistan. FILUMS has evolved to become a benchmark in the filmmaking industry, also crediting itself to be the largest film festival in South Asia and is on its way to becoming an independent nation-wide event.
‘The Recess’ marks its 86th official selection at the FILUMS International Film Festival in Pakistan.
‘The Recess’ (‘El Recreo’) brings the story of Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life. The movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
The acclaimed movie has been picked for the main competition of notable international film festivals such as ‘Festival Internacioal de Cine de Lebu’ (Academy Awards Qualifying film festival), ‘Festival de Cine de Alicante’ (recognized by Goya Awards), ‘Santo Domingo Global Film Festival’ (accredited by FIAPF).
