Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – ‘The Recess’ by Navid Nikkhah Azad has been selected to compete in the 15th Poppy Jasper International Film Festival in the U.S.
Iranian acclaimed short film, ‘The Recess’ directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad, has been selected to compete in the 15th Poppy Jasper International Film Festival (PJIFF), which takes place as a hybrid event from April 6-13, 2022.
The Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, or PJIFF, now in 15th edition, promotes inclusion, diversity, and women empowerment. The PJIFF educates people of all ages about filmmaking, and encourage everyone to “find their voice through film.”
‘The Recess’ marks its 89th official selection at the 15thPoppy Jasper International Film Festival, or PJIFF, in the U.S.
‘The Recess’ (‘El Recreo’) brings the story of Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
The movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
The acclaimed movie has been picked for the main competition of notable international film festivals such as ‘Festival Internacioal de Cine de Lebu’ (Academy Awards Qualifying film festival), ‘Festival de Cine de Alicante’ (recognized by Goya Awards), ‘Santo Domingo Global Film Festival’ (accredited by FIAPF).
