‘The Recess’ has been selected to compete in the 23rd Dawson City International Short Film Festival, or DCISFF, in Canada, which takes place from April 14-17, 2022 in Dawson City, Canada.
Dawson City International Short Film Festival, or DCISFF, aims to promote, exhibit, and disseminate contemporary independent film and media works by regional, national and international emerging and professional artists.
‘The Recess’ marks its 90th official selection at the 23rd Dawson City International Short Film Festival in Canada.
‘The Recess’ (‘El Recreo’) brings the story of Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
The movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
The acclaimed movie has been picked for the main competition of notable international film festivals such as ‘Festival Internacioal de Cine de Lebu’ (Academy Awards Qualifying film festival), ‘Festival de Cine de Alicante’ (recognized by Goya Awards), ‘Santo Domingo Global Film Festival’ (accredited by FIAPF).
