Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – ‘The Recess’ by Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in the 7th Bengal International Short Film Festival, or BISFF, in India.
‘The Recess’ marks its 93rd official selection in the Short Films competition section of the 7th Bengal International Short Film Festival (BISFF), which takes place from May 15-18, 2022 in Kolkata, India.
The Bengal International Short Film Festival, or BISFF, is organized by the Bengal Film and Television Chamber of Commerce (BFTCC). The BISFF aims to promote and encourage the young and talented independent filmmakers from all over the world.
‘The Recess’ will go on screen in Short Films competition section of the festival on May 16th at Nandan (West Bengal Film Centre) in Kolkata, India.
‘The Recess’ has competed in 93 international film festivals including a number of GOYA and Oscar Qualifying festivals and has won 17 awards.
‘The Recess’ brings the story of Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
The movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
The acclaimed movie has been picked for the main competition of notable international film festivals such as ‘Festival Internacioal de Cine de Lebu’ (Academy Awards Qualifying film festival), ‘Festival de Cine de Alicante’ (recognized by Goya Awards), ‘Santo Domingo Global Film Festival’ (accredited by FIAPF).
