“The Recess” by Navid Nikkhah Azad has received four nominations in main categories at the 15th Festival Internacional de Cine Bajo la Luna popularly known as Islantilla Cinefórum in Spain.
“The Recess” directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad has been nominated for Best Short Film (Navid Nikkhah Azad), Best Director (Navid Nikkhah Azad), Best Screenplay (Navid Nikkhah Azad) and Best Artistic Direction (Mona Ramezani) at the Festival Internacional de Cine Bajo la Luna popularly known as Islantilla Cinefórum, which is underway for 15th edition.
The 15th edition of the Islantilla Cinefórum opened on July 2 in Islantilla (Huelva, Spain) and will wrap-up on August 27, 2022.
The Spanish-Iranian short drama “The Recess” has competed in 115 international film festivals including FIAPF-accredited, Goya Awards qualifying festivals and Academy Award® qualifying festival around the world and has won 21 awards.

Directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad and produced by Navid Nikkhah Azad and the Spanish producer Delia Guerra Parra, “The Recess” brings the story of the self-immolated Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
Inspired by true events, the movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
