“The Recess” directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad has been selected to go on screen in the Official Selection program section of the 10th Curta O Gênero, which takes place in Fortaleza (Brazil) from August 18-24, 2022.
Curta o Gênero is an action conceived and carried out by Fábrica de Imagens – educational actions in citizenship and gender and is characterized as a space for people interested in sharing their thoughts, interpretations, experiences, doubts, propositions, performances, perceptions and artistic creations in the fields of feminisms, gender, sexualities, connected, above all, with other social markers, especially social class and race.
“The Recess” goes on screen in the 8th screening block of the Curta o Gênero at the “Auditório Dragão do Mar” on August 21st .

Directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad and produced by Navid Nikkhah Azad and the Spanish producer Delia Guerra Parra, “The Recess” brings the story of the self-immolated Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
Inspired by true events, the movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
