“The Recess” by Navid Nikkhah Azad has been selected to compete in the 5th Festival Internacional de cine de Norte de Santander (FICNOR) in Colombia.
“The Recess” directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad has been selected to go on screen in the International Competition section of the 5th estival Internacional de cine de Norte de Santander, popularly known as FICNOR, which takes place in Cucuta (Norte de Santander, Colombia) from September 5-9, 2022.
Norte de Santander International Film Festival (Spanish: Festival Internacional de cine de Norte de Santander – FICNOR) is organized by the Frontera Films Corporation. Born from the need to create a film industry in the region, from the Colombian-Venezuelan border and from a pedagogical and training field, the festival aims to promote cinema in the Norte de Santander department and the border region, being the most important festival in the Northeast Colombian.
The Spanish-Iranian short drama “The Recess” has been officially selected in 117 international film festivals including FIAPF-accredited, Goya Awards qualifying festivals and Academy Award® qualifying festival around the world and has won 22 awards.

Directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad and produced by Navid Nikkhah Azad and the Spanish producer Delia Guerra Parra, “The Recess” brings the story of the self-immolated Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
Inspired by true events, the movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
