Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – “The Recess” by Navid Nikkhah Azad receives nomination at Festival de Cine de Calzada de Calatrava (2021) in Spain.
“The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad receives nomination for the jury prize in the “HIPARQUÍA” section of the 8th Festival de Cine de Calzada de Calatrava, which runs from August 6-21, 2021 in Ciudad Real, Spain.
“The Recess” marks its 30th international appearance at Festival de Cine de Calzada de Calatrava in Spain.
Festival de Cine de Calzada de Calatrava aims to promote the short film as a means of audiovisual expression, and contribute to its recognition and dissemination, as well as to provide an opportunity for filmmakers to display and enhance their works.
“The Recess” received the nomination for the best short films in “HIPARQUÍA” section of the festival, which is devoted to the short films on the subject of “Gender Violence, Equality, Feminism”.
“The Recess” is set to screen on August 12, 22:15, at the Pation de San Francisco in Calzada de Caltrava, Ciudad Real.
“The Recess”, tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered. Inspired by true events, The Recess explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
