Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – “The Recess” by Navid Nikkhah Azad went on screen at the 20th GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival, officially known as GISFF, in South Korea.
“The Recess” has been selected to screen in the Official Selection section of the 20th GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival, officially known as GISFF, which takes place from May 24th to June 30th, 2022 at MovieBloc, a global independent film platform.
The GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival, or GISFF, is the world’s first international competition-based film festival to introduce every single one of the entries to the audience. The GISFF is hosted by PandoraTV and MovieBloc and is organized by the GISFF Executive Committee.
GISFF’s main goal is to provide new opportunities for talented indie filmmakers and movie-lovers who are willing to discover new and unique filmmakers and movies. GISFF will always do its best to introduce new short films to audiences around the world and help talented directors shine in the international scene.
“The Recess” has competed in 102 international film festivals including FIAPF-accredited, GOYA and Oscar-Qualifying film festivals around the world and has won 19 awards.
“The Recess” brings the story of Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
The movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
The acclaimed movie has been picked for the main competition of notable international film festivals such as ‘Festival Internacioal de Cine de Lebu’ (Academy Awards Qualifying film festival), ‘Festival de Cine de Alicante’ (recognized by Goya Awards), ‘Santo Domingo Global Film Festival’ (accredited by FIAPF).
