Iranian acclaimed movie “The Recess,” directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad, competes in the Global Short Films (Corto Global) competition section of the 14th Santo Domingo Global Film Festival, accredited by FIAPF, in Dominican Republic.
“The Recess” marks its 74th international appearance at the FCGSD, Festival de Cine Global de Santo Domingo, in Dominican Republic.
The Festival de Cine Global de Santo Domingo (FCGSD), an initiative of the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (FUNGLODE), is a unique international experience in film festivals, with its nerve center in the Dominican capital, Santo Domingo.
Festival de Cine Global de Santo Domingo (FCGSD) is the first Caribbean Film Festival accredited by the International Federation of Associations of Film Producers (FIAPF). The Santo Domingo Global Film Festival (FCGSD) is now a member of the exclusive community of 47 film festivals in the world, including Berlin, Cannes and Venice, committing to respect the quality standards defined by the film producer community.
“The Recess” tells the story of young Sahar who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Inspired by true events, “The Recess” explores gender oppression in Iranian modern society.
The 14th edition of the Festival de Cine Global de Santo Domingo (FCGSD) took place from 24-30 January, 2022 in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
