Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – “The Recess” by Director Navid Nikkhah Azad competes in Garden State Film Festival (2021) in the U.S.
The 19th Garden State Film Festival took place from March 23-28, 2021 in the U.S.
Garden State Film Festival is New Jersey’s Premier Independent Film Festival.

“The Recess” competes in the Narrative Short Films competition of the festival.
“The Recess”, tells the story of Seventeen-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends. Things take a tragic turn when Sahar’s disguise is uncovered.
Inspired by true events, The Recess explores gender oppression in Iranian society.
