Tehran (NAVID AZAD) – ‘The Recess’ by Navid Nikkhah Azad has been selected to compete in the 15th Media Film Festival in the U.S.
Iranian acclaimed short film, ‘The Recess,’ has been selected to compete in the 15th edition of the Media Film Festival, which takes place as a hybrid event from March 31-April 2, 2022. The in-person event takes place at the Media Theater in PA’s Media, and the virtual festival is hosted on Eventive.
The Media Film Festival, founded in 2007, is an international festival of short films. The festival is organized by Media Arts Council (MAC) of Media, Pennsylvania, in the U.S.
The Media Film Festival aims to promote quality independent films to build greater appreciation of artists and filmmakers within the community of Media Arts Council (MAC).
‘The Recess’ marks its 87th official selection at the 15th Media Film Festival in the U.S.
‘The Recess’ (‘El Recreo’) brings the story of Sahar Khodayari (Iranian Blue Girl) to life.
The movie follows Sahar, a 17-year-old student who is determined to skip high school during recess to go to the football stadium to watch a football match between Esteghlal F.C. vs. Al-Ain as part of the AFC Champions League in violation of the national ban on women entering football stadiums in Iran.
The acclaimed movie has been picked for the main competition of notable international film festivals such as ‘Festival Internacioal de Cine de Lebu’ (Academy Awards Qualifying film festival), ‘Festival de Cine de Alicante’ (recognized by Goya Awards), ‘Santo Domingo Global Film Festival’ (accredited by FIAPF).
